Leopard Bar, Twelve Apostles Hotel

The perfect place to celebrate Cape Town's glorious coast line coaxed a good friend into having a very classy tea in token of her 19th birthday. The insignificance of turning 19 years old was certainly made up for I'll tell you!
The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa is simply a piece of material excellence surrounded by pure natural beauty, including the twelve apostles (as in the Twelve Apostle Mountains) that it is sheltered by. It is situated between the cosmopolitan Camps Bay and harbour of Hout Bay, which makes this hidden hotel a more than worthwhile escape from the hustle and bustle!

INTERESTING FACT: The first residents of Camps Bay were the San and Khoi people. When the Dutch settlers arrived in the Cape the Twelve Apostle Mountains were covered in forests, where lion, leopard and antelope roamed. The Khoi tribe lived on the slopes of the Twelve Apostles, but they were dying from measles and smallpox, and they were restricted to the Oudekraal area.

Here is a photograph of my friends Jessica and Alex with the beautiful view of the ocean from Leopard Bar's balcony:
Just one of the beautiful rooms the Twelve Apostles Hotel has to offer, the Leopard Room is an accordingly decorated lounge that takes over the balcony overlooking Cape Town's never-ending coast line. The eight tea stands supporting chocolate brownies, cream scones, finger sandwiches and a selection of the best teas and coffee, along with the amazing bar (proved by sense of sight as well as taste), left our group of 15 girls oh so satisfied, yet frothing for more!

Being a student, it is not like I would choose this venue as my weekly hangout, however, everyone deserves a treat once in a while, am I right? Leopard Bar’s summer menu offers a wide of treats indeed, including any type of wine one could think of served by bottle or by glass, savoury snack platters (starting at R135), beef biltong (starting at R50 for 100g), fresh oysters paired with champagne (starting at R195), full tea-stands filled with all sorts of goodies for R165, and the most delicious cocktails ranging between R50 for a ’Chocolate Cosmo’ and R180 for a ‘Classy Champagne Cocktail’.

Ultimately, exquisite cakes, mini sandwiches, cocktails and the most glorious sunset set fire to our November Sunday afternoon, leaving a very satisfied group of girls A-for-away in the nightlife of Camps Bay!
